Back in 2018, I had major heat damage to my hair. I was slowly, but surely struggling with growing my hair because of the damage that had happened. Granted, I used a ton of heat, so recovering from heat damage was a struggle. I have fine, blonde hair that is color-treated 2-3 times a year, and I was consistently washing it daily. It honestly felt like so much damage had been done that healthy hair was far from possible. Much less the idea of going a day between washes.
So, over the last few years, I have curated my favorite hair products that have not only helped me gain healthy, shiny hair (and a healthy scalp!). But, that has also helped my hair growth (finally!).
VEGAMOUR GRO HAIR SERUM: I started using this serum in September 2023 and now in January, I can tell my scalp has improved with new growth. It looks fuller and more dense, and it’s something I plan to keep using.
IGK FIRST CLASS CHARCOAL DRY SHAMPOO: I tried multiple dry shampoos for years trying to get my hair to go between washes. After doing extensive research, I came across this charcoal dry shampoo. It’s perfect for fine hair that tends to get oily the next day. I use a few spritzes and let it sit for 30 seconds then continue styling as normal.
AVEDA SHAMPURE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER: I know the price is steep, but the results are well worth the pennies. I previously was using Amika but after a formula change, I went back to my favorite shampoo and conditioner set. I can tell a noticeable difference when I use this! My hair is healthy, shiny, and fuller, and the results last. I feel like my hair and scalp are also cleaner, so that’s always a win when trying to encourage hair growth.
OUAI LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER: I enjoy using this leave-in conditioner. It not only helps with detangling, but it also leaves my dried hair smooth and well-hydrated. A huge win during the winter months!
IGK GOOD BEHAVIOUR SMOOTHING SPRAY: This spray has multiple uses, but I mainly use it as a heat protectant. I will sometimes spray on towel-dried hair, but I typically use it before I straighten or curl my hair. I use low heat when styling, so combined with this spray, my hair stays smooth and frizz-free all day. And still avoids heat damage. I can’t recommend it enough!
AVEDA SCALP SOLUTIONS: I recently tried this exfoliating treatment, and fell in love. I had tried different scalp cleaning products, but this one was not harsh and I noticed the next morning how well my scalp felt. It cleaned it and also improved my hair’s texture. I would not recommend it for daily use, but using 2-3 times a month to reduce product build-up is always a win.
OUAI DETOX SHAMPOO: Another scalp solution product, this detox shampoo is by far the best I’ve used. I’ve done the DPHue ACV Wash, which I liked, but I noticed it was stripping my hair over time. So, I stopped using it and moved to this. It keeps my hair hydrated as well as cleans to get rid of any product build-up. I use maybe once a week but try to use at least every two since I use a heavier dry shampoo.
KENRA FINISHING SPRAY: I had to throw a heavier hair spray only because I use it when I need it. I rarely use this spray, but if you need a cleaner hair spray option with heavy hold, this one is it!
KRISTIN ESS HAIR SPRAY: I was looking for a cleaner and less expensive option for a hairspray that is set lightly. When I tried this one, I knew I had found it. I enjoy this spray and it works as a nice texture spray.
KRISTIN ESS VOLUME SPRAY: I recently added this to my lineup to work as an alternative to mousse. Mousse and my hair have never meshed well together, but my hair took to this spray. If you have fine hair and want volume that lasts at least two days, this is it!
DRYBAR DETANGLING HAIR BRUSH: Lastly, my favorite hair brush that is gentle on my hair. I love this brush for detangling my hair and keeping it smooth once dried.
